Makeup for film and photography
I often get asked what the difference is between makeup for attending a special event and makeup for a photoshoot or filming.
There are a couple of answers. The first is the amount of product used, generally for film and photo you apply the makeup heavier than you want it to look, makeup doesn't show up as boldly on camera, so you can go heavier on coverage and bolder on the contour, eye and lip colours.
Sometimes for film and photo makeup we need to take test shots and make adjustments because lighting is quite different in front of the camera compared to where it was applied, or natural light vs studio lighting.
So where does that leave us for bridal makeup? You want it to look beautiful and natural in person, but gorgeous in photos as well. Generally, for bridal photography, we try to find a good balance. Most photographs are usually taken in natural lighting outdoors, so we lean closer to what looks like a beautiful amount of makeup in person but will also look good in this style of photography. It is also very much dependent on what the bride herself feels comfortable to wear.
